In this section, I will be discussing how I have taken my professional development. I included a reflection on some of the areas that need improvements. Also, analysis of the used strategies in the classroom. Finally, I will be including any samples of teaching materials that indicate the development.
It's very essential to have a plan that contains your skills and strategies that will lead you to achieve your goals. The professional plan should be linked to the actions that will be taken in terms of weaknesses and the areas that need to be developed. Then a plan should be built with a set of effective procedures that will be used in the school with the students. In my 7th semester, I set 2 goals that need some adjustments and updates. I am focusing this semester on using accurate and appropriate language when giving instructions and improving classroom management. I applied some strategies to achieve both of the PDP goals. I conducted research which aims in gathering strategies and a sitting action plan to empower the goals. I used reward charts, coupon cards, class dojo to control students' behavior. During implementing the action of the reward system (giving coupon and dojo points) the boys were doing the required rule or task to get a coupon or point. Thus, it indicated the achievement of the goal well. The next strategy was using the total physical response to give explicit instructions. It was effective in most of the activities but it needs modifications. I need to give the students the commands and let practice it to avoid any errors. Each semester I learn something new which involves my growing as a teacher. As a teacher, I need to practice and reflect more to ensure that I have a strong, solid background about the competencies of education.
